Oarle

Inspired by the paddling motion of the feet of grebes, Oarle is a kayaking paddle that simplifies the process of paddling.
Oarle is powered solely by the users’ kinetic energy. Once Oarle is submerged in the water, the user only requires two steps to paddle through. In the recovery stroke, the paddle closes up to drastically reduce drag produced in the water. When the power stroke is applied, the paddle opens up and pushes the boat through the water.
